Nothing beats a steaming cup of mulled wine on a frosty winter day. This traditional spiced holiday drink will warm you to your core and tickle your taste buds.

YIELD: 4-6 servings (about 3 1/2 cups)

Mulled Wine

  • 1 (750 ml) bottle of dry red wine
  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1 SugarBee® apple, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole star anise pods
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1-inch slice of fresh ginger

 Suggested Garnishes

  • 1/3 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1 SugarBee® apple, cored and thinly sliced
  • Cinnamon sticks

METHOD

  1. Place all mulled wine ingredients into a large pot and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer gently until fragrant, at least 30 minutes. NOTE: the longer the wine simmers, the stronger the spiced flavor will be.
  2. Strain and serve warm with apple slices, pomegranate seeds and a cinnamon stick.
